Common Ground Program 2024-25
| Common Ground is a 100% free program aimed at supporting prospective students, parents of young people and employers to understand the higher education landscape. Throughout 2024, and into 2025, participants of Common Ground will be given the opportunity to opt into a series of workshops and events, including visits to Canberra universities and training providers. |
Workshop 1 – Study Stories
Join us at the Monaro High School Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 14th March 4.30 - 7.00pm. Study Stories is an interactive exhibition that is designed to get you thinking about your education, from a certificate to a PhD. Read the stories of Cooma locals and answer questions about higher education in fun ways. Four universities and Cooma TAFE will also be joining us!
Workshop 2 – Higher Education 101
In July 2024, those signed up to Common Ground will get access to a personalised workshop to help you understand higher education. Depending on if you are a current or future student, an employer, or a parent of a student, your experience will be different. This means no boring workshops, just what you really need to know! If you haven’t signed up already, you can do so at the bottom of the page.
Workshop 3 – Canberra Site Visit
In October 2024, Cooma locals can join us on a 100% free visit to Canberra. We will explore The University of Canberra, Australian National University, and the Australian Catholic University. We will also check out some registered training organisations providing certificates, diplomas, and short courses, and connect you with experts to help with your personal questions. Bus transport, exclusive merch, and full catering provided. Sign up required
Workshop 4 – Taking Action
In March 2025, participants will work to put their knowledge into practice. We will work through what study at any level actually looks like, and how you might apply and study, or support someone to do so. Haven’t joined us for any other workshops yet? No worries! Final event – celebrating success
In May 2025, we will celebrate the journey of those who found Common Ground with us. Expect to find out what support is available after the program, and to look back on an incredible journey. All participants, their families, and community members will be welcome at this event. Sign up required.
